A new board member for one of Hong Kong’s best known developers leads today’s look at personnel moves from around the region, as Jardine Matheson doubles down on attempts to transform itself into a manager of third party capital. Also making the list is a promotion at one of Singapore’s biggest property investors and a new title for a Jakarta-based executive.
Hongkong Land announced on 31 October that it has appointed outgoing Blackstone managing director Alan Miyasaki as an independent, non-executive director on its board from 1 November. Miyasaki, whose departure from Blackstone was reported in September, is joining the developer’s board on the same day that former PAG executive Lincoln Pan takes up a non-executive seat in the decision-making body. Pan took over as CEO-designate of Hongkong Land’s parent firm, Jardine Matheson on 1 November.
Jeremy Ng has been promoted to head of fund syndication with the private capital management division of Mapletree Investments, according to a LinkedIn update. Ng took on his new responsibilities recently after serving as head of fund management with the private capital management division of the Temasek Holdings-controlled investment firm for more than two years.
Ashwin Bhat has been appointed president director at PT Mega Manunggal Property Tbk, according to a LinkedIn update. Bhat took on the Jakarta-based leadership role this past month after his employer, Astra Property, the real estate unit of Jardine Matheson’s Astra subsidiary, in October acquired an 83.67 percent stake in the warehouse specialist for IDR 3.35 trillion ($202 million). Bhat continues to serve as president director of the industrial and logistics division of Astra Property.
Bain Capital is hiring veteran Blackstone managing director Matt Koskinen to lead its real estate strategy in Australia, according to reporting by the Australian Financial Review. Koskinen is said to be taking on his new duties from early next year, after serving with Blackstone since 2017. The Wilfred Laurier University graduate also has previous experience with Goldman Sachs and Macquarie Group, as well as with Aberdeen.
Koramco Asset Management chief executive officer Park Hyeung-Seok is said to be leaving the Korean investment giant as the company continues to work through a management rejig. Park, who has led Koramco since 2017, was reported by real estate website Seoul Property Insight to be leaving the company soon. That change comes after Koramco Asset Trust, the parent organisation of Koramco Asset Management, late last year reshuffled its senior leadership. In June Koramco Asset Trust unveiled a plan to boost its domestic AUM to KRW 50 trillion by 2030.
Nasdaq-listed property advertising website Ohmyhome said on 22 October that its co-founder, Rhoda Wong, has stepped down from her roles as co-chief executive officer, chief financial officer and director of the company. Wong, who said on LinkedIn that she is remaining with the company as CEO of Ohmyhome’s business in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, was replaced as co-CEO by her sister, Daisy Wong Wun Wun on 22 October, according to a statement.
Cushman & Wakefield said on 27 October that it has appointed Minh Hoang as country head of Vietnam, as part of its broader Southeast Asian growth strategy. Before joining C&W last month Hoang spent more than nine years at Savills, where she worked most recently as senior director for commercial leasing with the property consultancy. Hoang also has previous experience with CapitaLand’s residential division, Ascott.
Adding to its recent appointments, Cushman & Wakefield announced on 29 October that it has named Chloe Teo as senior director for tenant representation in Asia Pacific. Based in Singapore, Teo is tasked with supporting C&W’s multinational clients in finding their new corporate homes across the region, according to the statement. Teo joins the property consultancy after 20 years with rival Colliers, where she worked most recently as senior director and head of enterprise clients.
