How are Tech Tools Enabling Innovation in Asian Real Estate? Survey Kicks Off This Week

2025/08/11 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

780x439 - Tech Survey 2025 JumboChatGPT-5 launched last week with its developer, OpenAI, proclaiming a “new era of work” which will help place intelligence at the centre of every business.

While the debut of the fifth edition of the generative AI model fits into a frenzy of IT announcements which have buoyed tech stocks in anticipation of a boom in tech adoption, the near-term impact of artificial intelligence is less clear. And in traditional industries like real estate, the relationship between innovation in the tech stratosphere and business practices on the ground has yet to be thoroughly documented.

To more clearly chart the impact of AI, and of technology in general, on Asia’s real estate industry, Mingtiandi and Yardi on Monday launched the sixth edition of the region’s only survey of tech adoption by executives in the industry.

The survey, which asks respondents to share information on their use of technology, including AI, was emailed to more than 15,000 Mingtiandi subscribers with responses to be accepted through 23:59 on Friday, 29 August. The 18-question survey takes less than five minutes to complete with respondents eligible for complimentary MTD Pro access as a special bonus.

Gauging Tech Use

The launch of ChatGPT-5 is the latest in series of AI milestones which have driven investment in top tech companies and raised expectations of increased productivity and streamlining of business processes.

Despite AI’s domination of the tech conversation, however, analysts at Goldman Sachs estimate that only about 9 percent of companies in the US are now using the technology for regular production.

To help decision-makers in Asian real estate to learn more about trends in adoption of AI and other technologies in the region, this year’s survey asks respondents to chart where they and their companies are along the path to tech adoption, as well as exploring the barriers which users are facing.

Looking forward, the poll also asks respondents which aspects of the industry they expect to derive the most advantage from tech advances and what benefits their companies have derived from AI if they have adopted the technology.

With more powerful technologies boosting the value of information resources, the survey also looks at what steps companies are taking to protect their data assets and the incidence of cybersecurity issues in the region.

Bonus Access to MTD Pro

Responses to the survey are confidential and anonymous.

As a reward for contributing to greater understanding of the industry, respondents will have the option of receiving one month of complimentary access to MTD Pro (valued at US$499 per year) after completing the survey.

Results of the survey will be published in a special report to be shared on Mingtiandi during the fourth quarter of this year, with statistics from the 2025 poll set to be compared with historical data from past reports.

In the 2024 edition of the survey, 37 percent of respondents said they were using AI, compared with just 17 percent in 2023 and 9 percent in 2021. However, many of the respondents indicated that they were using tools outside of their corporate systems.

At the corporate level, 26 percent of respondents said their companies have commenced research into AI with an equal number already implementing systems. Only 16 percent of respondents said their companies had stable AI systems in place.
