Asia Real Estate People in the News 2025-05-12

The living sector and data centres lead this week’s review of personnel moves from around Asia Pacific as Greystar names a country leader for South Korea and Singapore digital infrastructure leaders continue to find new homes.

Jungkhwan Kang GreystarGreystar is expanding its Asia Pacific business into a new country with the company having hired former Samsung SRA Asset Management executive Junghwan Kang as head of Korea, according to a LinkedIn update. Kang, who looks after real estate investment, development and capital markets for the US multi-family giant, took on his new role this month after just under three years with Samsung SRA as head of portfolio management.

Swati Goyal Digital EdgeSwati Goyal has joined Digital Edge Data Centres in Singapore as head of investments, according to a LinkedIn update. Goyal took on her duties with the Stonepeak-backed firm recently after more than three years with Brookfield portfolio company DCI Data Centers as chief investment officer. The graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology also has previous experience with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres and Blackstone.

Woon Teng Koh, EquinixWoon Teng Koh has joined Digital Realty in Singapore as senior director of acquisitions, according to a LinkedIn update. Koh picked up her new name cards at the US-listed REIT earlier this months after just under four years with competitor Equinix, where she worked as director for corporate development. The Nanyang Technological University graduate also has previous experience with Bridge Data Centres and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres.

Xavier MatagneColt Data Centre Services said on 7 May that it has hired Xavier Matagne as chief real estate officer, giving him responsibility for the company’s development, engineering and construction teams worldwide. Based in Nice, France, Matagne has spent the last six years with Africa Data Centres, where he served most recently as chief development officer. Matagne also has previous experience with Equinix and Accenture.

Bao Jianmin citic2Former China Investment Corp executive Bao Jianmin is now a deputy general manager with mainland investment firm CITIC Group, according to an update on the CITIC website. Formerly a member of the executive committee at China’s sovereign wealth fund, Bao served as head of private equity investment at CIC after earlier serving in leadership roles in the mainland institution’s real assets investment department.

Liu Weiliang ZhenroZhenro Properties Group announced on 8 May that its chairman, Liu Weiliang has resigned from his position and is also leaving the company’s board, as part of a wholesale management change at the mainland developer. Liu is being replaced as chairman by Chan King Tak, Zhenro’s chief financial officer since 2022, who is also joining the board as an executive director. The management turnover come after Zhenro founder Ou Zongrong was placed under “compulsory measures” by Chinese authorities in January, according to a company statement at the time.

mr-low-huan-pingLow Huan Ping has been appointed as lead independent director of Keppel DC REIT Management, according to an announcement on 6 May by the manager of the SGX-listed real estate investment trust. Low, who will also serve as chairman of the nominating and remuneration committee, will step down from the board’s ESG committee. Low takes over the lead independent director role from Kenny Kwan Yew Kwong, who is leaving the board.

Grace Tiam Knight FrankGrace Tiam has been promoted to senior director with the valuations and advisory department at Knight Frank in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update. Tiam received her upgrade this month after more than four years as a director with the same department. The member of the the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers has now been with the property consultancy since 1999.
