Asia Real Estate People in the News 2025-04-14

Senior level moves in Singapore and India lead this week’s review of personnel movements from around Asia, with the Lion City naming a new chief for one of its primary real estate regulators, an upgrade for a CapitaLand fund manager and fresh hire at a Gurgaon builder.

Calvin Phua SLACalvin Phua has been named to lead the Singapore Land Authority from 1 May, according to a recent announcement from the country’s Ministry of Laws. Currently the deputy secretary for policy at the Ministry of Laws, Phua will take over the chief executive role at the land registration and survey authority from Colin Low who has led the government bureau since 2021. A veteran civil servant, Phua also previously served as a deputy secretary with the Ministry of Transport and with the Ministry of Sport.

Hardik-GesotaHardik Gesota has been promoted to managing director with the private funds division of CapitaLand Investment in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update. Gesota, who had served as head of India private funds with the Singapore-based estate giant since 2019, took his step up after joining the company nearly six years ago through its merger with Temasek Holdings stablemate Ascendas-Singbridge.

Amit Kaicker Signature GlobalAmit Kaicker has joined Gurgaon-based developer Signature Global as chief business officer after more than five years with Indian giant DLF, according to a LinkedIn update. Kaicker took on his new duties with the housing specialist this month after having served as senior vice president and business head for New Gurgaon with DLF since 2019. The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade graduate also has previous experience with real estate firms Housr and Puravankara Ltd.

Takeshi_Ueda-low (1)JLL has hired Takeshi Ueda as head of capital markets for Japan’s Kansai region and head of its Osaka office, according to a statement earlier this month. Taking responsibility for investment services in the region which spans Osaka, Kyoto and Nara in the southern part of Japan’s Honshu island, Ueda previously spent more than 35 years at developer and consultancy Kintetsu Real Estate and its affiliates, according to the statement.

Denis McGowanCBRE said on 10 April that it has hired Denis McGowan as head of Asia Pacific and Europe-Middle East-Africa for the financial and professional services unit of its global workplace solutions division. Now based in London, McGowan joins the property after more than two years as a partner with developer and investor Osborne and Co in the UK. From 2008 through 2022 McGowan led the global real estate unit of Standard Chartered from Singapore.

Donny Tse Hongkong LandDonny Tse has been promoted to senior asset manager with Hongkong Land, after nearly six years as an asset manager with the unit of Jardine Matheson Group. Tse received his promotion this month, according to a LinkedIn update, after first joining the developer of Hong Kong’s Exchange Square, Jardine House and other landmarks of Central district in 2019. The University of Melbourne graduate also has previous experience with Colliers and Savills.

Richmond Liu HK Lands DeptRichmond Liu has joined Hong Kong’s Lands Department as an estate surveyor with the government bureau, according to a LinkedIn update. Liu shifted to his new position this month after nearly three years with property consultancy Colliers in the city, where he served as a director with the company’s valuation and advisory services division. The University of London graduate also has previous experience with Savills.

Mimi Lee has joined Eaton Club in Hong Kong as general manager with the serviced office division of developer and investor Great Eagle Holdings, according to a LinkedIn update. A veteran of Hong Kong’s flexible office world, Lee started into her new role last month after just over a year as head of relationship management with competitor Bela offices. The University of Hong Kong graduate also has previous experience with The Executive Centre and Wheelock Properties.
