Weave opened its second Hong Kong residence last month
Mingtiandi will hold its first co-living forum in Hong Kong next week, and one of the industry’s fastest-growing players will lead the discussion in front of an audience expected to reach over 100 industry executives.
Sachin Doshi, whose Weave Co-Living recently purchased its fourth property in Hong Kong, alongside Warburg Pincus Managing Director Qiqi Zhang, will appear in a spotlight interview session to open the event with a discussion of how his two-year-old company is meeting the residential needs of Hong Kong’s urban professionals.
The interview with Doshi and Zhang promises to provide guests at the Mingtiandi Hong Kong Co-Living Seminar 2019 with first-hand insights from two of the most innovative residential providers in Greater China when the event takes place on Monday, 25 November at the Renaissance Hotel in Wanchai.
Weave and Warburg Pincus Discuss Co-Living Lessons
At the event, Doshi is expected to explain how his company, which opened its second facility in Hong Kong last month, has been able to build a portfolio of residential properties in Hong Kong by offering affordable, flexible housing solutions for the city’s millennial professionals.

Weave on Baker, which opened in early October, provides residents with their own individual rooms for under HK$12,000 ($1,534) per month, while offering access to the 95-room facility’s communal living room, kitchen and gym.
The new property in Kowloon City is the latest manifestation of Weave’s buy-refit-and-operate approach which Doshi has said allows the company to guarantee that the startup’s residences will meet the expectations of residents more reliably than strategies which rely on managing facilities owned by third party landlords.
Having already received financial backing of up to $413.5 million from Warburg Pincus, Doshi is expected to share with the audience about Weave’s future plans for expanding its network of locations and what lessons he and his team have learned from their experiences so far.
Baker McKenzie, CapitaLand Also to Appear
Following the opening session with Weave and Warburg Pincus’ Zhang, who manages the private equity firm’s investments in Shanghai-based Mofang Apartment and Nova Property, the co-living event will continue with a panel discussion featuring contributions from executives from Capitaland’s Ascott Group and law firm Baker McKenzie.
Appearing on the panel to explore how co-living is pursued around the region, as well as how investors and developers can benefit from the sector’s potential, will be Mindy Teo, a Deputy Managing Director with the Ascott Ltd who looks after the group’s Lyf initiative; Baker McKenzie partner and co-chair of the firm’s Global Investment Funds Group, Jason Ng; along with Weave Vice President Shashank Narayan.
The event, which is expected to sell out early this week, has already attracted confirmed bookings from representatives of developers including Hines, Swire Properties, Sun Hung Kai Properties, Sino Land and Henderson Land.
Fund managers from Hong Kong and around the world are also expected to attend, with executives from PAG, Oaktree Capital, AEW and Heitman having already signed up for the session.
