Asia Real Estate People in the News 2019-07-01

In this week’s edition of People in the News, a Hong Kong-listed developer sees a boss’s son take another step up the family business ladder as he is given responsibility for activities in Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Shandong Qingdao, while a South Korean sovereign wealth fund gets a new CIO after passing all the tests with flying colours.  There are also fresh moves in leasing, occupier advisory, and client services across the region, as well as an appointment at a swoosh-bearing US sportswear giant.

Ou Guofei has been named as the president of Ronshine Group’s eastern China division, following the resignation of Li Honggeng, according to local media reports. Guofei, who is the son of Ronshine founder Ou Zonghong, formerly served in the group’s capital and finance division. In his new role, he will be responsible for the group’s activities in Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Shandong Qingdao, having worked in a management position at the company since 2015. Li Honggeng, who has resigned, joined the Shanghai-based developer in early 2018 from Longfor Properties.

Dae-yang Park has been named as the CIO of Korea Investment Corporation, after the South Korean wealth fund’s former CIO, Shinwoo Kang, departed after his allotted three-year term. Park, who has been the chief investment officer of state-owned Korea Teachers’ Pension since 2017, will take up his new position following regulatory checks after scoring highest on interviews and assessments among a shortlist of four candidates. Formerly the CIO of Allianz Life Insurance (now ABL Life Insurance), and a fund manager for Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Investment Trust Management, the Iowa State University graduate will become Korea Investment Corporation’s first ex-pension fund CIO.

Caroline Dellasega has been hired by Knight Frank in Shanghai to lead a new Occupier Advisory service line advising corporate occupiers and owners on real estate portfolio strategy and transactions. Dellasega formerly served in Cushman and Wakefield’s capital markets team in Singapore as head of the Europe, Middle East and Africa desk for APAC between August 2018 and January 2019, and was in the EMEA cross border capital markets team in London from June 2015 until August 2018. Prior to this, the University of Manchester graduate was at Colliers International in Shanghai for four years in the international advisory services team for China.

William Yu has been appointed as a marketing and leasing manager for Hong Kong and Shanghai Land Capital, after parting ways with Star Capital where he served as an assistant manager for three years and nine months. Yu was formerly a supervior in the marketing and commercial management division of City Developments Limited from January 2012 to October 2015. Prior to this, the former pupil of Jilin Teachers Institute of Engineering and Technology worked for Yuzhou Group and New World China Land.

Ken Tang has been promoted to head of Kowloon markets for JLL, effective from 1 July 2019. Tang joined JLL in 2010 and is currently a senior director in the firm’s Kowloon markets team in Hong Kong, where he provides advice to occupier clients. From 2000 until 2010, he worked for Cushman and Wakefield in commercial leasing on the tenant representation side of the business. Prior to that, the University of Hong Kong graduate worked in construction cost estimation and project management with Rider Levett Bucknall.

Sean Moran has moved to M Moser Associates’ global client services team in San Francisco after five months in the same department in Shanghai. Moran was formerly a senior director in the the business development and client services division at JLL between 2017 and February 2019, as well as serving as a senior business development / account manager for two years prior to that. The Dundalk Institute of Technology graduate has also worked for design practice Hassell as a senior business development manager between 2014 and 2015.

ella shengElla Sheng has been named Nike’s new store opening supervisor in Shanghai, after spending over two and a half years as PA to the senior director of store operations in Greater China. The Zhejiang Gongshang University graduate also worked for property services agency CBRE in Shanghai between 2014 to 2016, serving concurrently as a marketing officer and a personal assistant to the regional managing director of Greater China, as well as being a secretary to the global corporate services team from 2011 until 2015.
