Asia Real Estate People in the News 2019-01-14

2019/01/14 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

There are only a few weeks left before Chinese New Year gives much of the region a momentary breather from 2019, but real estate executives from Asia’s private equity, development and brokerage firms are still finding time to send out resumes and win new roles. This week in our roundup of new appointments, we find CITIC Capital taking on new talent from Beijing, a Philippe Starck-backed residential design group expanding its services and a host of agency promotions. Read on for all the details.

sunny zhangSunny Zhang has joined CITIC Capital as an Executive Director this month, joining the state-backed private equity investment manager after two years with developer Tahoe Group in Beijing. A fellow in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a member of real estate investment organisation CCIM, Zhang will be adding private equity experience to her resume after also having worked at Blackstone-backed InSite Asset Management and property consultancy Cushman & Wakefield.

Andrew T O PangAndrew TO Pang is adding the title of Managing Partner of Yoo FK to his resume as the furniture and kitchen subsidiary of interior design group Yoo expands its Hong Kong presence. Pang has served as Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Yoo, which was founded by Philippe Starck and UK developer John Hitchcox, since 1998. Yoo FK focuses on supplying furniture and kitchens for residential and hotel projects.

henry chinHenry Chin has seen his role with CBRE’s research team expanded with the property consultancy’s Head of Research for Asia Pacific adding Europe, the Middle East and Africa added to his portfolio. The enlarged territory was made official last week in a memo to staff from CBRE’s APAC CEO, Steve Swerdlow. In his new role, Chin has been given responsibility for Thought Leadership alongside the more mundane tasks of local research and data strategy. The change in the company’s research team is part of a restructuring that CBRE kicked off in the third quarter of last year.

charmaine shiCharmaine Shi has joined Keppel Capital in Shanghai, where she works with the Investor Relations team for the real estate asset management division of the Singapore government-backed conglomerate. Shi assumes her new role with Keppel Capital, which is also the parent firm for Alpha Investment Partners, after three years with the Capital Markets team at CBRE. The graduate of the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics also has previous experience with JLL and Servcorp.

felix chanChak Man Chan has been promoted to Manager with the Investment team at Link Asset Management in Hong Kong, after just under two years with the manager of Link REIT, Asia’s largest real estate investment trust. Prior to joining Link as an Assistant Manager in 2017, the University of Toronto graduate had worked as an Investment Analyst with fund manager Phoenix Property Investors in Hong Kong and Chan also has previous experience with the former DTZ, now part of Cushman & Wakefield.

mark gladuMark Gladu has been promoted to Director at JLL in Shanghai, where he specialises in brokering investment and leasing transactions for logistics space with the property consultancy’s industrial team. This latest jump is Gladu’s second promotion since joining JLL in 2014 after previously working with rival CBRE in Vancouver. The graduate of Thompson Rivers University also has previous experience with Braun Developments in Vancouver.
