Adrian Baker is now APAC CEO for CBRE Global Investors

CBRE Global Investors announced this week that Adrian Baker has taken over the top role in Asia Pacific for the private equity investment division of the CBRE group.

Baker, who is based in Singapore has been promoted to chief executive officer for Asia Pacific with CBRE GI, where he succeeds Richard Price, who has already relocated to the United States and will be leaving the firm on November 7th.

Baker, who originally joined CBRE Global Investors in 2007, when it was still ING Real Estate, already serves as the firm’s chief investment officer for Asia Pacific with responsibility for all direct real estate investment and asset management activity across the region – a role he will retain following this latest promotion.

20-Year Veteran Now Runs APAC Operation

“Adrian is an experienced and talented investor who has led the direct investment efforts across the region for the past two years as CIO and prior to that led the Global Investment Partners team, delivering outstanding performance for our investor clients and earning deep respect across the region,” CBRE Global Investors’ global CEO, Ritson Ferguson, said in a statement.

Baker brings with him to the top level job 20 years of real estate investment experience covering office, retail and industrial deals, as well as more niche property types.

Prior to joining CBRE Investors, the graduate of University of Technology Sydney served as a fund manager at Australia’s AMP Capital Investors where he was based in Singapore with responsibility for managing Asian real estate portfolios, and also has prior experience in Sydney.

With Richard Price about to leave the firm after more than 14 years with CBRE GI and its predecessors, Ferguson added: “Richard has led the business for the last 11 years, steering it through the global financial crisis, CBRE’s acquisition from ING and the restructuring of the company’s direct and indirect investment engines. We greatly value his contributions and wish him all the best with his future endeavors.”
