As industry leader WeWork toys with a potential $40 billion valuation, the benefits of co-working to most investors in the industry remain to be seen, however, the upside in terms of jobs for real estate professionals in the region are already evident here in People in the News. This week a full 50 percent of noteworthy new roles for property insiders around the region have come from the flexible office sector, so if the recruiters haven’t called you yet, please be patient. All the details on who now has some form of pronoun+space/endeavour on their namecard await you below.

James Lo WeWorkJames Lo officially was transformed from a Hubber into a WeWorker recently as the former naked Hub team member took on the role of Regional Sales Director for Hong Kong with the flexible office giant. The new role came after Lo spent the previous 18 months as naked Hub’s Director of Sales in the city, with Lo making the change after the Shanghai-based firm was acquired by WeWork for a reported $400 million in April of this year.

Ball signed up for the senior role with the Beijing-based firm after just over one year at Colliers International in Hong Kong, where she had served as a Director with the Office Services team in the city. Ball also has experience with China Resources Property, Cushman and Wakefield and JLL.

cherry-yin weworkCherry Yin has also joined the co-working craze, coming on board with WeWork in Beijing this month as an Associate Director for Real Estate Sourcing in North China. Yin joins the rapidly growing shared office provider after a four month stint with competitor Kr Space in Beijing, which she took on after formerly serving as a Senior Associate Director with the landlord representation unit of Colliers International’s office leasing team in Beijing.

maverick law jllAmong the team not yet hired by a flexible office provider, JLL’s Maverick Law has been promoted to Director with the China desk unit of JLL’s office leasing team in Hong Kong. In his new role, the University of Hong Kong graduate is tasked with providing strategic advice to multinational and mainland clients looking for offices in Hong Kong, and the latest step up comes just over eight years after Law joined JLL in 2010.

Shen joined the Hong Kong-listed builder after spending five years in business development with Japanese developer Mitsui Fudosan in the city. The Peking University graduate also has experience with Colliers International.
