Asia’s hottest digital infrastructure markets are being brought into focus this week as Mingtiandi’s APAC Data Centre Forum holds sessions on Japan and Korea, as well as Southeast Asia, with speakers from some of the region’s biggest developers, operators and advisors.

This week’s shows, which are sponsored by Yardi, begin at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time on Tuesday, 12 September with a panel discussion on Southeast Asia markets, after developers and operators announced 34 projects in the region so far this year – up from 22 in all of 2022 and 18 a year earlier. The programme continues at 10:00 AM on Thursday, 14 September, with a panel on the Japan and Korea markets, with these two more developed economies having accounted for 41 percent of the capital committed to data centre development in Asia, excluding mainland China, last year, according to MSCI data.

In this week’s shows, Mingtiandi will be speaking with top executives from developers and fund managers Nuveen, EdgeConnex, ESR, CapitaLand Investment, as well as with experts from JLL, energy engineering firm Engie and law firm Wong & Partners – a member firm of Baker McKenzie, to find out more about what’s happening on the ground in these markets.

Following last week’s interview with Princeton Digital Group, and our panel session on Asia’s hyperscale market with Logos, JLL and Baker McKenzie, this week’s programme gets into the specifics of strategies for top markets in the region.

For the Japan and Korea panel on Thursday, viewers will get a chance to hear from Diarmid Massey, CEO for the data centre division of ESR; Bob Tan, an executive director with the data centre practice group with JLL’s capital markets team; Patrick Boocock, CEO for private equity alternative assets with the the real assets division at CapitaLand Investment; and Jing Zhou, a senior director with the alternatives and strategic transactions unit at US investment manager Nuveen.

Green Data Centres on Deck

Following this week’s shows, the APAC Data Centre Forum will return at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time on Wednesday, 20 September for a spotlight interview with Singapore’s Empryion DC and Seraya Partners about how the two companies are working together to build a green data centre platform in Asia.

In that dedicated discussion, Mingtiandi will speak with Empyrion DC CEO Mark Fong and James Chern, managing partner and chief investment officer with Seraya Partners, about how the partners have established projects Singapore and Korea, and what to expect next as the venture continues to expand.

That session on 20 September will be the last for Mingtiandi’s data centre forum, and our MTD TV programming for the second half of 2023 will continue in October with our office strategies forum, before the team travels to Singapore in November for our second annual on-location forum in the Lion City.
