Asia Real Estate People in the News 2023-05-15

A promotion at a Singapore-based fund manager leads this week’s roundup of personnel moves in Asia Pacific’s real estate industry, followed by a top level change at Joseph Lau’s Chinese Estates in Hong Kong. Also making the list are new appointments at China’s JD Logistics and Hong Kong’s Dash Living.

Michael Lane, Managing Director, SC CapitalSC Capital Partners has promoted Michael Lane to partner with the Singapore real estate fund management firm, according to a LinkedIn update. Based in Shanghai, Lane helps to lead the company’s acquisition, value enhancement and disposals of real estate investments in Greater China and beyond, according to a company bio. Lane is taking the step up three years after being promoted to managing director with SC, a title which he continues to hold, and has now been with the firm since 2009.

Lam Kwong Wai Chinese EstatesProperty investment firm Chinese Estates announced to the Hong Kong exchange on 10 May that Lam Kwong-Wai has resigned from his roles as executive director, group financial controller and company secretary with effect from 25 May. Lam, who has been with the Hong Kong-listed firm controlled by fugitive billionaire Joseph Lau for 34 years, will see his duties as group financial controlled taken over by Chau Yuen-fun and Mak Kai-yee will succeed him as company secretary.

JD Logistics informed the Hong Kong bourse on 11 May that it has appointed Hao Wu, 36, as chief financial officer of the company with effect from that same day. Having first joined JD Group in 2014, Wu is taking over the CFO role with the logistics management division of China’s second-largest e-commerce player from Su Shan, who is being promoted to chief financial officer of JD.com as part of a larger management reshuffle.

Allan Lee DashHong Kong rental apartment management firm Dash Living has promoted Alan Lee to general manager for revenue, according to a LinkedIn announcement. After joining Dash as head of enterprise leasing two years ago, Lee is now responsible for revenue management, leasing and reservations for the hotels, co-living spaces and service apartments managed by the company. Prior to joining Dash, Lee had served stints with online marketing provider Braag and WeWork.

Chloe Fan WeWorkChloe Fan has joined WeWork as marketing manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan, according to a LinkedIn update. Fan now leads marketing and promotion for the US flexible office player from her base in Hong Kong and joins the company after more than a year with flexible office systems provider Essensys. The City University of Hong Kong graduate also has experience with The Executive Centre.

Go Yang San MeinhardtSingapore-headquartered design, engineering, project and construction management firm, Meinhardt Group, said on 11 May that it has appointed Go Yang San as managing director of the company’s Singapore business. Go had spent more than 13 years with Meinhardt before leaving the company to become managing director of rival Aurecon Singapore. Reunited with his former firm, Go will now serve as member of Meinhardt’s global board and will act as regional director for its infrastructure division.

Cherry WeiCherry Wei has joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Hong Kong as an asset manager, according to a LinkedIn update. Wei joins the hospitality unit of Jardine Matheson Group from mainland investment firm Bright Ruby Resources, where she spent more than three years in investment and asset management. The University of Reading and University College Dublin graduate also has experience with Savills in Singapore.

Kitty Cheung HinesKitty Cheung has taken a step up to senior marketing manager for China with Hines, according to a LinkedIn update. Based in Shanghai, Cheung received her upgrade around four years after joining the US developer and fund manager. Prior to joining Hines in 2019, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology graduate had worked with Tesco Property China, Nan Fung China and Shui On Land.
