Martin Chavez joins the Colliers team in Shanghai

Colliers International this week announced the appointment of former Cushman & Wakefield executive Martin Chavez as Senior Director of Corporate Solutions for Asia Pacific as the international property consultancy continues to add to its top management team in the region.

“I’m thrilled to have Martin join us to lead the China Corporate Solutions platform which will no doubt bolster our regional offering to our clients,” Colliers’ Executive Director of Corporate Solutions for Asia Pacific, Abhishek Bajpai, commented in a statement. “Martin is highly skilled in cross-border real estate transactions and I’m confident he will leverage his extensive international network and broad industry experience to help our clients accelerate their business success.”

New Role, New City

Relocating to Shanghai for the new role, Shanghai previously spent more than six years with Cushman & Wakefield in Beijing, serving most recently as Head of MNC Occupier Services as well as being in charge of cross-border leasing requirements for the agency.

In his new role, Chavez, who also has previous experience with CBRE and JLL, is charged with serving Colliers’ multinational clients in China through the company’s Corporate Solutions team and coordinating with directors of the local business to ensure international standard service delivery.

In addition to his 12 years in China, Chavez has worked in the US and South America and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese in addition to English and Mandarin.

Colliers Keeps Ramping Up Mainland Team

Chavez’ hire is the latest tweak to Colliers’ mainland management after the Toronto-based firm promoted Tammy Tang to co-head of its mainland operation in February. In that same transition, which came one month after Colliers’ long-time Shanghai boss Lina Wong left the company, Sean Sun was promoted to head of western China.

In March Colliers acquired Shanghai-based construction management firm SIP, adding more than 110 project managers to its China operation.
