Asia Real Estate People in the News 2022-02-06

Finance giants lead this week’s collection of personnel moves on Mingtiandi as two of Asia Pacific’s largest financial institutions make senior hires. Also making our list are a pair of director changes at Hong Kong-listed firms, a promotion at Gaw Capital and a fresh hire at CBRE.

Charles Griffith MacquarieCharles Griffith has joined Macquarie Group in Singapore as director for real estate with the Aussie financial conglomerate’s clients solutions group, according to a LinkedIn update. In his new role Griffith leads capital raising and product development initiatives for Macquarie Asset Management’s real estate products in Asia, and signed up with the firm after more than three years with Savills Investment Management as director for business development.

Sherman Hung DBSSherman Hung has rejoined DBS Bank in Hong Kong as head of the large corporate division of the firm’s institutional banking group, according to a LinkedIn update. The new role returns Hung to the finance world after more than four years as assistant chief executive with toy maker and retailer Kidsland. The graduate of University College London and Cambridge University had previously served as managing director and head of real estate and strategic coverage with DBS from 2014 through 2018, and also has previous experience with Morgan Stanley.

Yu Zhiliang China Merchants LandChina Merchants Land announced to the HKEX on 3 February that Yu Zhiliang has resigned as general manager of the Hong Kong-listed developer and has been re-designated from executive to non-executive director. Yu had been an executive director since 2012 and had served as general manager since 2016, with Wong King Yuen now taking over the GM role as the company’s chief financial officer, Chen Yan has been named an executive director.

Zhuang Yuemin Aeon-FosunFosun International said in a statement to the Hong Kong exchange on 2 February that Zhuang Yuemin has resigned from his seat as a non-executive director on the company’s board in order to devote more time to personal commitments. Zhuang who serves as chairman of Aeon Insurance Asset Management and as a vice president of Aeon Life Insurance, sees his non-executive director role being taken over by Li Fuhua, 52, who currently serves as financial director, head of finance and general manager of the planning and finance department for Aeon Life Insurance Co, Ltd.

Camille LamCamille Lam has been promoted to associate director for corporate communications and investor relations with the capital markets division of Gaw Capital Partners in Hong Kong, according to a LinkedIn update. Lam takes her step up at the real estate fund manager after nearly five years as a senior manager with the same division, as she continues to lead corporate communications and marketing for the company led by financier Goodwin Gaw.

Alex WuAlex Wu has joined Mapletree Investments in Shanghai as deputy general manager for key accounts, according to a LinkedIn update. Wu picked up his new namecards this month after more than six years with Logos Property China in Shanghai, where he had served most recently as director of leasing. Wu also has previous experience with XPO Logistics, Dachser SE and CEVA Logistics.

Joyce Leung CBREJoyce Leung has signed up with CBRE in Hong Kong as an associate director, according to a LinkedIn update. Leung has become part of the green team after nearly four years with Colliers International in the city, where she had served most recently as a senior manager with the firm’s office services division. During her time with Colliers, Leung was involved in BASF’s relocation to Two Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay, as well as other leasing transactions.

Jordan KostelacJordan Kostelac is now a co-founder of Deploy, a start-up established to connect early-stage venture deals with investors sourced by domain experts, according to a LinkedIn update. Based in Hong Kong, Kostelac takes on his entrepreneurial challenge after more than seven years with JLL, where he had served most recently as director for proptech covering the Asia Pacific region. Earlier Kostelac had been a senior associate for workplace strategy with the firm.
