With Hong Kong still struggling with its largest COVID-19 outbreak to date, Singapore dominates our list of personnel moves from around the region, with top level moves at a listed developer and a REIT, as well as a set of private equity executives taking on new roles.

Annie Koh Prime US REITThe manager of Prime US REIT announced on 25 February that it has appointed Singapore Management University emeritus professor Annie Koh as its new chairman effective 24 February. The manager of the SGX-listed trust, which holds a portfolio of office properties across the US, portrayed the appointment of the finance educator as aligned with its increased focus on independent board leadership. Former chair Charles Jay Schreiber, who represents the REIT’s sponsor, KBS Asia Partners, left the board the same day that Koh took on her new role. Prior to being named chair, Koh had served as lead independent director of the trust’s manager.

Jaslyn Leong SasseurSingapore-listed developer Oxley Holdings announced on 18 February that it has appointed Jaslyn Leong Mei Kuan as its new chief financial officer and company secretary effective 28 February. Now 47, Leong takes on her new role after joining Oxley as financial controller at the beginning of this year. The chartered accountant assumes the top finance role at Oxley after Chan Yean Chun’s departure last year. Leong had previously served as head of finance at SGX-listed Sasseur REIT before leaving that position late last year.

Dalmar Sheikh ActisFund manager Actis announced on 24 February that it has appointed former Amazon Web Services executive Dalmar Sheikh as its global head of data centre operations. Holding a director title at the London-based firm, Sheikh is charged with overseeing value creation for Actis, which has invested in data centre projects in mainland China, South Korea, Africa and the United States. Sheikh previously spent more than nine years with AWS in their Seattle office.

Serene LimSerene Lim has been promoted to director of portfolio management at CBRE Investment Management in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn announcement. Lim takes her step up at the firm formerly know as CBRE Global Investors after two years as a senior vice president, and has now been with the company since 2017. The graduate of Shanghai’s Fudan University also has previous experience with ESR and CapitaLand.

Philippa WeberPhillipa (Hagan) Weber has joined Gaw Capital Partners in Singapore as director of business development, according to a LinkedIn update. Weber joins the Hong Kong-based private equity real estate firm after more than five years with JLL in Melbourne and Singapore, where she had served most recently as a director with the property consultancy’s data centre team for Asia Pacific. Weber also has previous experience with Global Switch and Digital Realty.

Colin Clarke MerxColin Clark has been promoted to regional managing director at project management firm Merx Asia, according to a LinkedIn update. Clark took on his enhanced role following the completion of property consultancy Savills’ acquisition of Merx last month. The University of West London graduate has now been with Merx since 2017, and also has previous experience with Colliers, Redwood Group (now part of ESR) and CBRE.
