Asia Real Estate People in the News 2017-10-30

In this week’s edition of People in the News, an investment banking veteran with real estate know-how is taking a top job in the wealth management field in Singapore, while a couple of industry pros are joining mainland developers. An Apple alum is also returning to the real estate consulting world, specialising in retail, while an investment expert is jumping from an agency to an asset management firm. Read on to find out more details about how is moving where the APAC property world.

Wee Teck Tay has joined Deutsche Bank Wealth Management as Director, Head of Private Markets APAC this month, based in Singapore. In the newly created role, Tay will be exploring private equity opportunities for private banking clients, while helping to expand the wealth management business of the Munich-based global financial services firm. Tay reports to the head of global products & solutions for APAC and global head of private markets. Previously, Tay served as Head of Private Equity and Real Estate at Standard Chartered Bank (Global Wealth Management) and as Director at the Bank of Singapore, giving him over nine years of experience in sourcing, structuring and managing private equity and real estate deals for private banking clients.

Max Tang is now Director at Sino-Ocean Group, based in Shanghai. The commercial real estate specialist joins the state-owned, Beijing-based developer after serving as Vice President of BD at investment management firm KaiLong. Tang, who holds an MBA, has a wide-ranging career history in eastern China that also includes working as Investment Director at Ping An Trust and various roles at logistics developer Goodman, Shanghai Urban Development Group Wuxi Real Estate, and other firms.

Wayne Mo has joined Agile Group as Chief Investment Manager. In his new role at the Guangzhou-based property developer, Mo will be managing the firm’s real estate investment business related to industrial townships. Prior to the job change, Mo worked as Associate Director of Asset Management and GMO at Singaporean developer Mapletree in Foshan, Guangdong province for over a year. The holder of a master’s degree from Auckland University has also worked at property consultancy Colliers International for three years.

Jackie Lam has moved into the agency world, taking a job as Senior Retail Development Manager at global real estate consultancy JLL, based in Hong Kong this month. Lam previously worked for over four years as Real Estate Coordinator at Apple, where she specialised in growing the consumer electronics giant’s retail footprint throughout the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining Apple, the graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University worked for CBRE and Elliott Ross.

Ho Phuong Anh has joined the Valuation department of Colliers International in Vietnam, based in the Ho Chi Minh office of the global real estate agency. Prior to taking the job in August, Anh worked as senior valuer for commercial assets at Saigon-Hanoi Bank, where she conducted valuation for a wide spectrum of property types. Anh also served in valuation and risk control roles at Vietnam’s Techcombank (TCB).

Veronica Jiang has exited the real estate agency field to take the position of Vice General Manager with an asset management firm, based in Shanghai. The holder of a master’s degree from Sichuan University previously worked at a roster of global property firms including Savills, CBRE, JLL and Colliers International where she focused on investment properties and outbound investment.
