Asia Real Estate People in the News 2017-07-24

During this week of killer Shanghai heat and disappearing Hong Kong typhoons many of Asia’s real estate professionals are finding shelter in new offices, including a valuation professional landing a new home with one of China’s fastest-growing private equity groups and a former agency guy joining a Beijing-based developer. Read on for all the details on who just got the job that you always wanted.

xiaoming duXiaoming Du has joined China Minsheng Investment Group Asset Management Corporation in Beijing as a Director with the three-year-old mainland private equity group. A trained valuer and member of CIREA (the China Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and Agents), Du joins CMIG after just under three years at Jiuding Capital in China’s capital, where she served most recently as a Senior Investment Manager. The graduate of Australia’s University of Queensland also has experience with real estate agency CBRE.

alex heAlex He has joined Riverside Group in Beijing as a Director with the mainland resort developer. He takes on his role with the 3,000 person company after serving more than two years with Taikang Asset Management, including 11 months as a director with the asset management affiliate of China’s Taikang Life. The leadership role at Riverside Group comes just over two years after the University of St Andrews graduate left Colliers International in Beijing, and He also has experience with CBRE.

Nihat-ErcanNihat Ercan has been promoted to Managing Director of Investment Sales with JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality group in Singapore. Ercan originally joined the property consultancy in 2002 and has since been instrumental in several major deals, including the sale of Jumeirah Dhevanafushi in the Maldives; Grand Park Orchard Singapore, the largest commercial transaction in the city’s history; and the InterContinental Hong Kong, the largest ever single hotel transaction globally.

Yasokazu Terada_01At the same time that it revealed Nihat Ercan’s promotion, JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group also announced that Yasokazu Terada had been promoted to Managing Director of Investment Sales, based in the company’s Tokyo office. Terada, who first joined JLL in 2001, is now tasked with building relationships for the company beyond Tokyo, drawing upon his experience in investment sales, hotel operator selection and advisory work. As part of the same transition, JLL’s Corey Hamabata, was bumped up to Senior Vice President for Investment Sales, and will be relocating from Singapore to Hong Kong next month, where he will lead the Hong Kong Hotels & Hospitality team.

joel stephenJoel Stephen has moved on to his third continent with CBRE, trading Hong Kong for Manhattan to take on the role of Senior Vice President for Retail Advisory & Transactions with the agency’s New York office. In his new role, Stephen says he will be advising retailers on global strategy and execution after spending more than two years with CBRE in Hong Kong and another four years in the company’s Shanghai office after joining the green team in London in 2006.

melanieMelanie (Gatmaitan) Manalaysay has joined Singaporean serviced apartment provider The Ascott Limited as a Resident Manager, based in Beijing. Manalaysay comes to the member of CapitaLand after more than 5 years with competitor Shama, where she served most recently as CSR Conductor for Shama China, while also working as Manager for Operations at Shama Century Park in Shanghai. The graduate of University of Baguio in the Philippines also has previous experience in China’s food and beverage industry.
