Asia Real Estate People in the News 2017-06-11

School’s out for summer across much of Asia, but many of the region’s real estate professionals are still learning new roles this week, according to our sources here at Mingtiandi. Leading the list of familiar faces headed for new places this week, a Xiamen-based developer says goodby to a 20-year company veteran, a US big box operator takes on some strategic help, and there are still more moves if you just read on.

lin longzhiYuzhou Properties Executive Director Lin Longzhi has left his role with the mid-sized Hong Kong-listed developer, according to a recent announcement by the company to the Hong Kong stock exchange. Lin, who has been with the Xiamen-based company since 1997, has been a member of its board of directors since 2009. The company, which specialises in development in southern China, said that Lin is leaving to devote more time to his other commitments.

derek chenDerek Chen has joined Walmart as Senior Director for Strategy, Planning and Research, based in Shenzhen. Chen has stepped into his new position with the US retail giant after one year with the Intercontinental Hotels Group in Shanghai where he served as Director for Development Marketing and Program Management in Greater China. The Northwestern University graduate also has previous experience with JLL and Apple.

edmund engEdmund Eng is now an Assistant Vice President with Ascendas-Singbridge, based in Singapore and Shanghai. Eng joins the Singaporean development giant this month as part of its Integration and Growth Strategy Department, after previously working with serviced office provider Regus as Country Manager for Hong Kong. The graduate of Adelaide’s International College of Hotel Management also has previous experience with the Walt Disney Company and Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

christopher cribbChristopher Cribb has moved to Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Ltd as General Manager for Projects, based in Hong Kong. Cribb has taken on his role with the parent company of the Peninsula hotels after serving more than three years with EC Harris as the built asset consultancy’s Head of Hospitality, based in Singapore. Cribb also has previous experience with EC Harris’ parent firm Arcadis, and architecture firm RMJM.

jimmy leeJimmy (Minwoo) Lee has signed up with Kolon LSI Asset Management as a Manager based in the Seoul suburb of Gwacheon. Lee takes on his new role with the forty-year-old Korean real estate investment specialists after serving just over a year with competitor Pacific Asset Management in Seoul. The Konkuk University graduate also has previous experience with Intrus Investment Management and CBRE.

aborven louAborven Lou has been promoted to Associate Director with the Advisory and Transaction Services and Office Services teams at CBRE in Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Lou takes his step up at the real estate agency after just over a year as a Manager with the Advisory and Transaction Services team in the company’s southern China office. The graduate of Hainan Normal University has now been with CBRE more than three years and also has prior experience with Walmart China and French food conglomerate Danone.
