Asia Real Estate People in the News 2017-05-22

Leading this week’s parade of real estate professionals finding new roles, or at least leaving their old ones, is a board member stepping down from a Hong Kong-listed developer, while a Hong Kong-based PE professional finds a new home with a US heavyweight. Also in the news a retail veteran finds a new role with Nike and a US West Coast brokerage strengthens its China team. Read on for all these details on these moves and more.

Mainland real estate firm Landing International Development announced last week that Chen Lei is leaving the Hong Kong-listed developer’s board as of the company’s upcoming annual general meeting. Chen, who has been serving as a non-executive director of the firm is said to be retiring by rotation from his position with Landing. The firm recently began selling units at its $1.8 billion Jeju Shinhwa World integrated resorts project on South Korea’s Jeju island.

regent yungRegent Yung has joined The Carlyle Group in Hong Kong as an Associate with its Metropolitan Real Estate team. In his new role with the US private equity giant, Yung will be co-investment and secondary private equity real estate opportunities across Asia Pacific after spending three years with Asia’s largest real estate investment trust, Link REIT as an Investment Manager and Senior Investment Analyst. The Tsinghua University graduate also has experience with KKR and Sino-Ocean Land’s Sino Prosperity Real Estate Fund.

lucy xuLucy Xu has joined Nike in Shanghai as Marketplace Planning Director for East China with the US apparel and sporting goods maker. Xu joins the swoosh-stripe team after just six months with CP Commercial Development in Shanghai, having previously spent over a year with Cushman & Wakefield as Director of Retail Tenant Representation. Xu also has experience with the CBRE and with the leasing team at the Reel/Park Place project on Shanghai’s West Nanjing Road.

geng-helena-lrgHelena Geng has joined US brokerage Kidder Mathews as a Vice President with the company’s China Services team based in San Francisco. Geng joins the West Coast consultancy after previously operating Amza Partners, her own commercial real estate advisory service, for more than one year. The Harvard Business School graduate and former Goldman Sachs associate has more than 10 years experience in cross-border transactions between the US and China.

ethan wenEthan Wen has joined Myriads Capital (杭州仟意资产管理有限公司) in Shanghai, as a Senior Investment Manager with the Hangzhou-based asset management firm. Wen takes on his new role after serving more than three years with Cushman & Wakefield in Shanghai, most recently as a Senior Manager. The graduate of Trent and Lakehead Universities in Canada also has experience with consulting firm Gerson Lehman Group.

siece chooSiece Choo has joined SOHO China as a Leasing Manager based in Shanghai. In her new role with the Beijing-based commercial developer, Choo will be responsible for leasing at the company’s Bund SOHO project along Shanghai’s famous riverfront commercial area. Prior to joining the developer run by celebrity entrepreneurs Zhang Xin and Pan Shiyi, Choo had spent over a year as a Business Developer with Fountown in Shanghai, and also has previous experience with Savills and Centaline.
