Leading off the region’s list of familiar faces in new places this week, one of the mainland’s biggest buyers of real estate has started acquiring talent as well, as a senior banking veteran gets a new ticket with HNA. Also making a move this week are two real estate private equity veterans and there’s much more to learn if you just keep reading.
Patrick Kwan has joined HNA Group (International) Co as Chief Investment Officer from April 10th, according to an announcement by the Hong Kong-based wing of the mainland transportation and investment conglomerate. Kwan arrived at HNA after serving with Barclays in Hong Kong from 2001 to 2016, where he worked most recently as Co-head of the Investment Banking Division for Asia Pacific and Country Manager of Hong Kong. The University of Michigan graduate also has previous experience with Goldman Sachs, TD Securities and Deutsche Bank.
Danny Yu has joined Xiamen-based China SCE Property Holdings as a General Manager with the privately held property developer. Yu signed up with the high-end home builder after spending more than two years with China Vanke investment affiliate V Capital, where he served most recently as a Vice President based in Shanghai. The twelve-year industry veteran also has experience with property consultancy DTZ (now part of Cushman & Wakefield).
Canna Cheng is now part of the team at real estate investment specialists Heitman in Hong Kong. The graduate of INSEAD and the University of Hong Kong joins the 50-year old US firm after more than eight years with private equity real estate shop Arch Capital Management, where she served most recently as a Senior Manager of Investment. Cheng also has previous experience with development giant Sun Hung Kai Properties.
Agnes He has signed up with K11 Concepts Ltd as an Area Manager, based in Beijing. The retail real estate veteran will focus on fashion retail leasing for the shopping centre arm of Hong Kong’s New World Development after serving her time with the BCDC@Yangzhou retail project, where she served as Assistant General Manager. The graduate of the Tourism Institute at Beijing Union University also has experience with BCDC in Beijing, as well as with CapitaLand.
Chloe Choi has been promoted to Assistant Sales Manager with China Overseas Holdings in Hong Kong. Choi takes her step up after less than one year with the parent company of top 10 mainland developer China Overseas Land & Investment, having originally joined the firm as Senior Sales Officer in June 2016. The graduate of the University of Hong Kong’s Master of Real Estate Science program also has prior experience with Swire Properties and Knight Frank.
