Goodman Leases 41,000 SQM to Single Tenant at Tianjin Project

Logistics developer Goodman has leased 40,884 square metres of warehouse space at its Goodman Xiqing Logistics Park (GXLP) in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin.

The new agreement with outdoor apparel and equipment producer Beijing Toread Outdoor Products means that the Australian firm has now fully leased the first phase of its project in Tianjin’s Xiqing Economic Development Area and follows soon after the company announced nearly 100,000 square metres of new leases in Shanghai.

“We are pleased to have secured this major customer and welcome Toread to Goodman Xiqing Logistics Park,” said Kristoffer Harvey, Chief Executive Officer for Greater China at Goodman. “This commitment demonstrates the high quality offering at the park and its locational advantages as a Northern China distribution hub for Toread’s leading e-commerce and retail business needs.”

The facility, which will provide more than 200,000 square metres of single-storey warehouse space when complete, is located 30 kilometres northwest of central Tianjin, in close proximity to the city’s international airport. Goodman has already started construction on the 47,032 square metre second phase of the project, with that facility expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2017.

Goodman began leasing the first phase of the Tianjin facility in 2014.

Goodman’s milestones in northern China follow a flurry of deals at one of the company’s Shanghai distribution centres. On December 14th, Goodman announced that it had signed a total of 98,120 square metres of new leases at Goodman Pudong Airport Logistics Park.

China Postal Express & Logistics, Danish transport provider DSV, local transportation firm NTS Logistics Management, vehicle logistics specialist Shi Hao Vehicle Logistics Solutions, and auto service provider Success Master Consultancy all signed major commitments at specialist air freight facility. Goodman Pudong Airport Logistics Park is located next to Pudong International Airport’s third runway.

Across Greater China, Goodman has 41 properties including industrial parks, warehouses and distribution centres valued at $5.5 billion, according to the company’s website. Active in the PRC since 2001, the company’s global CEO Greg Goodman said earlier in 2016 that it has the capacity to build up to two million more square metres of space in Greater China. As of April this year, Goodman had 3.2 million square metres of facilities in Hong Kong and on the mainland.
