Thursday night will be a special full moon, as Chinese (and Korean and Vietnamese) people celebrate the Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival by eating cakes that most of them find pretty unappealing and taking a day off from work.
Here at Mingtiandi we’ll be celebrating the 15th day of the eighth lunar month without any time off (vacation is not part of our style guide), but we will hold off from publishing a newsletter on Friday, as with mainland China and Hong Kong taking a three day weekend, we don’t want to be over-filling people’s mailboxes while they stuff themselves on mooncakes.
As this is a harvest festival, we want to give thanks for the crop of new readers that have helped us reach record traffic levels in recent months as well as to our sponsors that help keep all this news coming.
We hope that the full moon will be a happy one for all of our Mingtiandi readers, and enjoy the holiday!
