Asia Real Estate People In The News 2016-09-05

September is here and the start of the month also sees a number of Asia’s real estate professionals starting new jobs. The moves this week include a familiar face taking over as CEO for Asia at design firm Arcadis,  and Australia’s largest residential apartment developer plucking its newest assistant manager from a state-owned industrial developer. For all this week’s familiar faces in new places, just keep reading.

Matt Bennion CEO of Asia at ArcadisMatt Bennion was named CEO Asia at global design and consultancy firm Arcadis. Bennion had been serving as the company’s Chief Operating Officer Asia and has been with the organization since 2002. As COO, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Asia region and the development of the company’s Asian business. Arcadis, which specializes in natural and built asset design and consulting, has grown to more than 50 offices in Asia thanks to a number of acquisitions including last year’s merger with consultancy EC Harris.

Wayne Mo is the new Associate Director of GMO and Asset Management at Mapletree Investment’s Guangdong office. In his new role he will formulate and execute asset management strategies and plans for Mapletree’s real estate portfolio in the region and China as a whole. China is Mapltree’s largest overseas market and nearly 15 percent of the group’s total owned and managed assets are located there. Before moving to the Singapore-based investment firm, he was Manager of Capital Markets and Investment Services at Colliers.

Hugo ShenHugo Shen, Meriton has been appointed as a Manager Assistant at Australia’s Meriton Group. He had spent the previous three years at China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone in Shanghai working as a manager. Meriton Group is Australia’s largest residential apartment developer and focuses on the markets of Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Shen began his careet at JLL where he spent three years as an Assistant Manager. He earned his masters in international real estate management at the University of Glasgow.

JLL Associate Director Cherie ZhouCherie Zhou is now Associate Director at JLL in Shanghai. She is responsible for retail real estate in Shanghai and the East China region. Her new duties include overseeing retail market and project feasibility studies, retail property development, design consultancy, retailer expansion plan and financial analysis and retail property pre-leasing advisory. Zhou is now in her fifth year at JLL having started with the firm as a Manager in 2011. Her latest promotion comes a little more than a year after she was named as a Senior Manager.

Yolander LauYolander Lau has earned another promotion at the Hong Kong Housing Society after being named Planning and Development Manager where she will oversee planning and development, sales & marketing, and real estate investment. This is her second promotion in five years with the organization. She had most recently been serving as Assistant Manager for Planning and Development. Lau started at the Hong Kong government agency as a Senior Officer in 2011. Before joining the Hong Kong Housing Society, she worked as an Airport Property Analyst at the Airport Authority.
