Some of the region’s largest real estate investors and developers made board-level changes in their teams this week, including a new CEO appearing at NYSE-listed developer Xinyuan Real Estate. We also found a new CFO appearing at Savills Investment Management, and the top finance guy leaving at China Life. Read on for all these moves and more.
Lizhou Zhang has joined Xinyuan Real Estate as the NYSE-listed developer’s chief executive officer. Zhang joins Xinyuan after nearly seven years with Wang Jianlin’s Dalian Wanda Group where he had served most recently as Managing Director of the real estate conglomerate’s UK subsidiary, Wanda One. Zhang replaces Xinqi Wang at Xinyuan, with Wang also resigning as a member of the company’s board of directors. Like Wanda, Xinyuan has focused on overseas projects in recent years, with the developer announcing its third project in New York City less than two weeks ago.
Yang Zheng has resigned as vice president and chief financial officer of China Life. Yang has reportedly left his post with the mainland insurance giant to take on a position with competitor New China Life, according to an account in respected Chinese business journal Caixin. Yang had served as CFO with China Life, which has become one of the mainland’s biggest overseas real estate investors, since April 2013. China Life says it is actively recruiting a replacement for Yang.
Savills Investment Management has appointed Tammy Kuan as its new chief financial officer for Asia Pacific, as the UK-based firm continues to ramp up its team in the region. Kuan, who previously had served as financial controller with Morgan Stanley Investment Management Asia, will have overall responsibility for fund finance, including financial reporting and control, as well as due diligence on new deals for Savills Investment Management in the region.
Harley Jobb has joined Colliers International in Shanghai as an Associate Director with the Office Services division. Jobb will have responsibility for representing international and domestic tenants in evaluating and negotiating their built environment requirements through the real estate agency. The graduate of Canada’s Queen’s University takes on his new role this month after previously serving as Head of Business Development for Shanghai-based design and build firm iAction, and had previously spent more than four years with Shanghai Jielan Construction.
