The first session in Mingtiandi’s exploration of Asia’s data centre market starts on Tuesday 13 October with an online interview of a set of partners that are building one of the region’s fastest growing platforms.

In a spotlight interview session Warburg Pincus managing director and head of real estate for China, Ellen Ng, will be appearing with Rangu Salgame, chairman and CEO of data centre startup Princeton Digital Group, to explain how they have established a portfolio of 18 server facilities in Asia just three years after founding the Singapore-based company.

The hour-long interview starts at 10:00 am Hong Kong time on Tuesday, and Mingtiandi readers can sign up to watch the program on our MTD TV digital video platform here:

Merging Real Estate and Technology

During the exchange with Mingtiandi chief analyst Michael Cole, Ng and Salgame will field questions on the potential for data centres as a real estate asset class in Asia, as well as explaining some of the forces driving expansion in demand for server accommodation and Internet infrastructure across the region.

In her role leading real estate investment for Warburg Pincus in China, Ng serves as a director with ARA Asset Management, Weave Living, Kailong, Mofang Apartments, Newease China and other property platforms, in addition to having a seat on the board at Princeton Digital.

Salgame, who founded Princeton Digital in 2017, previously held senior positions at Tata Communications, Cisco Systems and Verizon Communications. In addition to his professional pursuits, the Wharton MBA holder also serves as a member of the Foreign Policy Leadership Council at The Brookings Institution.

Following the interview, Ng and Salgame will be available to answer questions from Mingtiandi viewers through MTD TV’s interactive Q&A platform.

More Data Centres on the Way

Mingtiandi’s data centre forum will continue on 27 October with a segment focusing on ways real estate investment funds can navigate the complexity of the data centre market.

In that panel discussion, Blackstone managing director Michael Shang, who led the firm’s investment in China’s 21Vianet, will discuss with Thomas Liu, who leads UK fund manager Actis’ data centre efforts in Asia, as well as with Baker McKenzie partner Edwin Wong, who has advised on data centre transactions in multiple jurisdictions around the region.

The third instalment of the series will take place on Tuesday, 3 November with Cisco Data Center Networks chief architect for cloud, Christopher Liljenstolpe joining a top executive from Hong Kong-based data centre operator BDx, along with a partner from Baker McKenzie and additional speakers to be confirmed in the coming days in a panel discussion of issues facing data centre developers and operators in the region.

2021 Event Calendar Now Set

All three sessions will be available free to Mingtiandi members, with readers able to now secure a Mingtiandi membership free of charge by registering here.
