Asia Real Estate People in the News 2016-07-04

This week Asia’s real estate professionals are finding new homes in the world of online startups, as well as in fund management, despite the calendar rolling over into the heat of the summer months. Also, a Singapore-based REIT is on the lookout for new financial leadership after announcing the resignation of its CFO last week. Read on for all these stories and more.

jean-lowJean Low Su-Im has resigned as the chief financial officer of Mapletree Greater China Commercial Trust Management (MGCCT) effective August 19th, after more than three and a half years running the finances of the Singapore-listed real estate investment trust. MGCCT said in a statement to the Singapore stock exchange that Lawrence Ng Tzu Ann, a vice president in the REIT’s finance department, would be taking over Low’s duties as CFO while the company searches for a permanent replacement. Low is said to be leaving to pursue other personal interests.

brandon-sedloffAfter four years at executive roles based in Asia and the United States at the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Brandon Sedloff has resigned to join Juniper Square as Managing Director and head of Business Development. Juniper Square is a San Francisco-based, venture capital-backed, technology company focused on helping real estate fund managers collaborate with their partners in exchanging information and capital. The startup is said to already be tracking 10,000 LP relationships through its cloud-based platform.

royce sawRoyce Saw has joined mainland real estate fund management firm Everbright Ashmore as a director, based in Shanghai. In his new role, Saw will be responsible for real estate investment and asset management for the real estate-centred investment joint venture between Chinese financial services conglomerate Everbright and Ashmore Investment Management of the UK. Before joining Everbright Ashmore, Saw had served for more than seven years on the office leasing team for CBRE in Shanghai.

jason-liuJason (Renpu) Liu has been promoted to senior manager with the office leasing team at Colliers International in Beijing. Liu takes his latest step up after spending 18 months as a manager with the same team at Colliers, and he has now been with the real estate service provider since December 2011. The graduate of Auburn University in the US specialises in office leasing, consolidation and investment services.

alice-liAlice Li has joined CapitaLand in Shanghai as a Retail Manager. In her new role, Li will be assisting with the Singaporean developer’s Capital Square project in Shanghai. Li comes to CapitaLand from Hong Kong’s K11, where she had spent more than five years, and in 2015 received the Outstanding Employee Award for China’s Southern Region from K11. The graduate of Shanghai’s Jiaotong University also has previous experience with the UK’s Tesco in China.

sylvia xueSylvia (Lai) Xue has just been promoted to manager with JLL’s research department in Shanghai. Along with her promotion, Xue is moving from the property consultancy’s REIS team, which focuses on China tier two cities market research, to its logistics intelligence service, which tracks the logistics real estate market. The graduate of Duke University in the US has now been with JLL for three years, after joining as an analyst in 2013.
