Greater China Real Estate People in the News 2016-03-21

With stories of Chinese mega-deals dominating the headlines, many of the real estate investment professionals in the region seem to be finding new opportunities. This week a French private equity firm promotes one of its real estate execs, a veteran cross-border investor takes a leadership role at a US PE firm, and one of the mainland’s flashiest developers builds up its business development team. Read on for all the details.

marc donnadieuMarc Donnadieu has been promoted to Vice President with L Capital Asia, based in Singapore. The one-time Accor executive is now responsible for investment projects in Southeast Asia and Europe with the private equity fund controlled by French luxury conglomerate LVMH. Prior to joining L Capital, Donnadieu had served for seven years in China with Accor’s investment wing, looking after the French hotel group’s projects on the mainland.

tinchuck ngTinchuck Ng is now International Chair of the real estate board with Cottonwood Management, a US real estate asset management company which has been actively growing its links to mainland Chinese investors. The former Blackrock and Aviva executive is taking on the board position with the Los Angeles-based company in addition to her regular duties as Founder and Managing Principal of Athena International Capital, a Hong Kong-based real estate investment firm.

eric shafferEric Shaffer has joined Core Capital Asia as a Director with the newly formed investment brokerage in Shanghai. Shaffer, who previously served as an Associate Director on the investment team at Cushman & Wakefield in China will be reunited with his former boss, Mark Suchy, who set up Core Capital this year. Shaffer has spent the last seven years brokering over $1 billion in real estate deals in China, and has prior experience with Paragon Partners Asia and hospitality-focused developer Space Group.

Kenny ShenKenny Shen, formerly of Cushman & Wakefield’s investment team in Shanghai, will also be joining Core Capital Asia as a Director with the brokerage startup. A Shanghai native, Shen has more than 14 years experience in the local property industry, and served most recently as an Assistant Director with C&W after originally joining the US-based property consultancy in 2005. A locally certified broker, Shen is a graduate of Shanghai’s Jiaotong University.

Janet Li has been promoted to Director of Business Development with SOHO China in Beijing. Li takes on her new duties with the commercial developer controlled by mainland power-couple Zhang Xin and Pan Shiyi after serving for one year as a manager in the business development department. Prior to joining SOHO in 2015, Li had been part of the Capital Markets team with consultancy JLL in Beijing.

lemon liLemon Li has been promoted to Director with the office services team at DTZ|Cushman & Wakefield in Beijing. The award-winning tenant representation specialist was appointed to her new role after serving more than two years as an Associate Director with Cushman & Wakefield in Beijing. The veteran broker also spent more than eight years as an office broker with Colliers International in the Chinese capital.

ying liuYing Liu (刘颖 ) is now an Associate Manager with Chengdu Yintai Centre (IN99) in Chengdu, Sichuan province. The retail leasing specialist takes on the challenge of Yintai Land’s 165,000 square metres of space in the mixed-use development as of this month. Prior to joining Yintai’s team, the graduate of Jinan University had spent more than three years with Cushman & Wakefield’s retail leasing team in Chengdu.
