Logan Group Plans 383-Metre Tower in Chinese City of 1.8M People

A Hong Kong architecture firm today unveiled their plans for Nanning Logan Century, a 383-metre tower that would give Logan Property Group the tallest building in Guangxi province, and one of the biggest skyscrapers in China.

Hong Kong architecture firm Dennis Lau and Ng Chun Man Architecture & Engineers, better known as DLN, have designed a 396,490 square metre structure incorporating grade A offices, a five star hotel and a high-end shopping mall, which the team predicts will become an icon of Guangxi and southern China.

The tower will be located in the central business district of Nanning, a city of 1.8 million people and the capital of Guangxi province.

Beating Shanghai’s Third Tallest Tower

At 383 metres, the building will be one metre taller than Shanghai’s Jinmao Tower, which was the city’s – and China’s – tallest, before it was surpassed by the 492 metre-tall Shanghai World Financial Centre in 2008. The World Financial Centre itself has since been cut down to size by the recently completed Shanghai Tower, which is now China’s tallest at 632 metres.

In describing the new project, Phiyona Auyeung, lead architect at DLN, said, “DLN has applied a postmodern architectural style in the design of Nanning Logan Century.” She added that, “Nanning Logan Century is designed with the genuine needs of business enterprises in mind, while captivating the magnificent attractions of this emerging world-class city.”

The tower, which has been underway since 2013, is scheduled for completion in 2017 and incorporates a 2,000 square metre business skypark, with an outdoor podium and green space to provide relaxation for corporate executives. The design also provides a sight-seeing platform at the 82nd floor.

Logan Makes Its Mark with Nanning Tower

Prior to launching Nanning Logan Century, Logan was perhaps best known for its December 2013 IPO on the Hong Kong stock exchange, which made then 24-year-old Perenna Kei Hoi Ting the world’s youngest billionaire.

Since that time, Ms Kei’s interest in Logan, which was held through a family trust, has been transferred back to her father, Kei Hoi Pang. The elder Kei, who is Logan’s CEO and was formerly known as Ji Haipeng, now is named as the trust’s beneficiary.

Now Nanning Logan Century gives the Hong Kong-listed developer the opportunity to be known for producing more than just beautiful billionaires.

An earlier version of this story indicated that Perenna Kei Hoi Ting still controls Logan Property Holdings. In fact, the trust that controls Logan was transferred from Ms Kei’s name to that of her father, Kei Hoi Pang in 2014. Mingtiandi regrets any confusion.
