This week brings lots of movements on the capital markets front as JLL’s former head of investment deals for SE Asia starts his own shop, C&W brings in a veteran asset manager, and a veteran politician may have jumped to a new role before he was pushed.
Ashish Machharam has caught the entrepreneur bug and started up his own real estate investment management company, after 12 years with JLL, most recently as Head of Investments for Southeast Asia for the property consultancy. The University of Rochester graduate now heads up 8M Real Estate as Founder and Managing Director for the company behind the development of the 8M residential complex on Singapore’s Margate Road, and continues to be be based in the island nation.
Justina Fan has joined Cushman & Wakefield in Hong Kong as Regional Executive Director with the real estate consultancy’s capital markets team. The veteran asset manager previously worked with JP Morgan Asset Management, ARA Asset Management and Merrill Lynch, and will continue to be based in Hong Kong, while overseeing staff and transactions across the region. Fan is a graduate of Shanghai’s Jiao Tong University and also holds an MBA from MIT.
Anton Eilers has joined Dalian Wanda with the Chinese developer’s outbound investment team after seven years with CBRE in Beijing and Hong Kong. Eilers is the third member of CBRE’s capital markets team to join the Chinese developer in the last two years, after Laurent Fischler in 2012, and Brian Fu earlier this year. The former head of CBRE’s short-lived Client Relationships division in China, Eilers will be putting his investment advisory experience to work with Wanda, having spent the most recent seven months with CBRE’s Capital Markets team.
Celina Zhang has joined Hopson Development Holdings as a Department Head with the Hong Kong-listed Guangzhou developer. Zhang takes on her new role with Hopson after spending just over a year with Colliers International in Shanghai, where she served as a Manager with its office services team. Before joining Colliers, Zhang worked for more than nine years with Hong Kong’s Hang Lung Properties in Shanghai in the developer’s leasing division.
Roland Sim is now Head of Property and Facilities Management for DTZ in Xiamen, after spending one year as General Manager for Colliers International in the same city. Sim relocated to Xiamen in 2013 after spending five years with Colliers’ real estate management department in Shanghai, most recently as a director. Sim also has experience as an executive with MRI software, as well as with information services firm EDI.
Kay Che has been promoted to the role of Senior Manager with DTZ in Hong Kong after serving with the property services provider since 2010. Currently enrolled in the Master of Real Estate program at the University of Hong Kong, Che is also an accredited mediator, having taken extensive training in the speciality with the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. The promotion is Che’s fourth since joining DTZ.
Kai Cui has now been promoted to Assistant Manager with DTZ in Hong Kong where she does marketing with the property brokerage’s office leasing team. Cui received her Master’s in Architecture from Hong Kong Polytechnic University last year, with a focus on Sustainable Urban Planning. The graduate of South China Agricultural University joined DTZ in 2013, and also served a six month internship with JLL in Guangzhou during 2012.
