China Real Estate People in the News 2014-06-30

Greater China’s real estate professionals continue to jockey for professional position as we head into the summer with a Tesco graduate jumping to Turner & Townsend, Cushman & Wakefield snatching another senior level exec from a competitor, and more. Read on for details.

Derek MoirDerek Moir has joined Turner & Townsend as a director in the project management firm’s Beijing office. Prior to taking his new role this month, Moir was Development Manager with Tesco Property China for more than two years, where he had responsibility for the UK firm’s Life Space Malls across Greater China before Tesco’s retail operations in China were acquired by China Resources last year.

LInda Chan Cushman & WakefieldLinda Chan has jumped to property services firm Cushman & Wakefield as a director with the company’s Tenant Advisory Group, based in Beijing. Chan started work with C&W last week after spending four years as a local director with the industrial services team at rival JLL. Chan also spent nearly six years with Savills in Beijing where she worked her way up to being an associate director with the company’s commercial leasing team.

Darren BensonDarren Benson has moved up a notch to the rank of Executive Director with real estate consultancy CBRE’s Asia Pacific industrial and logistics division, based in Hong Kong. Since being promoted from Senior Director for industrial and logistics in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, Benson continues to focus on assisting clients with industrial space rentals and sales in Hong Kong, but has added responsibility Asia-wide for coordinating service delivery across national boundaries.

Shawn ChenFei (Shawn) Chen has been promoted to the rank of Vice President with Sunyat Capital, based in Shanghai. Before joining the investment firm as director for investment early last year, the 12 year veteran of China real estate deals had spent stints at Ascendas, Cushman & Wakefield, Fosun, Winnington Capital, Colliers International and Sinore Real Estate. Chen holds master’s degrees from both Fudan University in Shanghai, and Reading University in the UK.

Tommy KangTommy Kang has joined PICC Investment Holding as Investment Manager in the company’s Beijing office. In his new role the former senior valuer at CBRE Beijing is now responsible for developing business strategies and evaluating investment opportunities towards for commercial properties, as well as creating financial models, carrying out due diligence, and drafting feasibility study reports.

Vicky Wu has been promoted to Senior Manager for Lease Management and Tenant Relations at Mapletree in Hong Kong. The new role at the Singapore-based real estate investment and development firm comes after Wu has spent three years at the company, most recently as a manager in the same division. Prior to joining Mapletree, the University of Hong Kong graduate was at Swire Properties for six years.

Weiqiang GuoWeiqiang Guo is now Executive General Manager with Central China Xinxiang Real Estate Co, where he is responsible for land acquisition and project development. The move to the top position for the firm’s operations in the northern Henan city is a step up for Guo who formerly served as Standing Deputy General manager with Central China Real Estate Group’s Nanyang subsidiary.

Charles WongCharles Wong is now Assistant to the director of the International Exchange Center for the Administrative Commission of International Wisdom Industrial Park in the rapidly developing Chuansha area of Shanghai’s Pudong district. This new role is in addition to Wong’s responsibilities as Executive Vice President with the Association of China International County Economy Exchange.
