China Real Estate Professionals in the News 2014-06-02

This week China’s real estate community’s career changes include a new home for an engineering sector veteran, a fresh COO for Colliers APAC operation, plus lawyers, gamblers and even an architect. Read on for details.

Peter Chan BCA GroupPeter Chan is now Group Vice President at design firm BCA Group in Shanghai. Prior to joining BCA, Chan served for more than one year as Head of China for Integrated Facilities Management at property consultancy Jones Lang LaSalle, and earlier was with engineering firm Scott Wilson Ltd for more than 17 years, most recently as Managing Director Asia-Pacific.

Paul Baxter Colliers InternationalPaul Baxter has joined real estate services firm Colliers International as Chief Operating Officer for Asia, based in Hong Kong. With more than 15 years experience in the real estate industry, Baxter had previously worked for Colliers in Australia and Singapore, where he was part of the company’s corporate solutions team. Most recently, he had served as Executive Director for Global Corporate Services with CBRE Japan.

Hattie Deng has joined property consultancy Cushman & Wakefield in Shanghai as a senior manager with the company’s Tenant Advisory Group. Deng joins C&W after more than three years with competitor CBRE. Market rumours indicate that a number of other veteran staffers with CBRE’s Shanghai office will also soon be leaving the real estate advisory firm after it reportedly ruled out staff pay increases for two years in a row as part of a drive to finally achieve consistent profitability in the world’s second largest economy.

Harvest FengHarvest Feng has moved to the Tenant Advisory Group with Cushman & Wakefield’s Chengdu office, where she works as an Assistant Manager. Prior to taking on her new post, Feng worked on the company’s Raffles City project in Chengdu as a leasing agent. Earlier the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne graduate had worked with serviced office provider Servcorp in Shanghai.

Timothy SoTimothy So has joined Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group as an Assistant Leasing Manager with their operation in the gaming haven between Hong Kong and Zhuhai. So, who formerly spent one year as a Leasing Officer with Henderson Land Development in Hong Kong also spent time with Hopewell Real Estate Agency and Hang Yick Property Management before joining the gaming group.

Gareth McFadden has headed back to the UK to work in Broadway Malyan’s London office after spending just over a year as an architect with the design firm’s Shanghai operation.

Zhong YiYi Zhong has joined finance consulting firm De Lage Landen as Legal Counsel after spending more than two years with asset manager CDG Retail Management. In her new role Zhong is responsible for
reviewing and revising finance lease agreements, coordinating with law firms and courts, and providing quarterly updates regarding new legal issues in China.
