We have been busy the last few weeks fixing a few last technical glitches on the project and plowing through the translation. (I never realised that I had built such a complicated website until I had to make an entire second version of it in a language that I can’t read and link the two sites together into a single workflow). But we are nearly done.
As of today, our project schedule looks like this:
Week of 13 October
- Finish final technical issues (mostly related to content translation workflow and localisation)
- Finalise hosting requirements for the site
- Complete the site translation process
Week of 20 October
- Proofread the Chinese content
- Resolve remaining browser compatibility issues
- Arrange web hosting
Week of 27 October
- Get site installed onto its new host and make it available at its URL
Week of 3 November
- User Acceptance Testing (this is our final chance to make sure it works before we pay the developers)
Ok, so this seems like a lot of steps, but considering that we have been working on the development of this site since April 2nd, we are feeling pretty good right now. Tired, but good.
To give you a little preview of what to expect, I am attaching screenshots of the site as it currently appears, in both Chinese and English.

It is cerntainly no surprise to see the media giant having this tremendous new move. Seems truly promising and historical-to-be.
Well, with your website seeming to be going public pretty soon, I do have some personal suggestions just for your reference.
English version seems nicer than Chinese version, dont know why…then i took a closer look, i think the chinese font works better in “huawenheiti” or simhei?other than the current “huawensongti” (this one looks a bit too sharp).
And for both, i think color of the title would look a bit nicer if it is more darkblue–less of the current green-ish and grey-ish.–also in this way the title will pop up better
and i do strongly suggest changing the typical windows baby blue color of all the roll-selection bottons. grey will give more of a professional look.
And actually i think this orange will work better with a even lighter grey–but this one works fine too.
Maybe too detailed…well, due to what i do..but just some personal opinion, hope your garden nicer:)..
