This week in the world of new roles for Greater China’s real estate professionals, a newly founded private equity firm takes on more talent in Shanghai, a retail research expert goes Asia-wide, and a man with a mustache finds a new home. Read on for all the details.
Tina Lai is now a Director with GEMA Capital Partners, based in Shanghai. Lai joined the private equity firm this month from CapitaLand Mall Asia Limited where she had served for more than four years, most recently as Assistant General Manager for Investment & Asset Management. GEMA was started earlier this year by former Fosun executive Gary Chan to provide investment opportunities in Chinese and overseas real estate, healthcare, and other alternative asset classes for Asian investors.
Steven McCord has been promoted to Head of Retail Research for Asia at JLL, based in Beijing. This new role will be in addition to his current role as Head of Research, North China, and comes after the JLL veteran had led retail research for China for more than 18 months. In his new role, Steven will lead the enhancement of JLL’s retail research in across Asian markets, as well as contributing to the consultancy’s thought leadership platforms.
Rachael Milford is said to be moving on from her role as Managing Director for Marketing & Communications in Asia Pacific at Cushman & Wakefield, after eleven years with the company in Shanghai and Singapore. Milford is reportedly leaving the real estate industry for a new opportunity in another field. Her departure comes just a few months after private equity backed DTZ acquired Cushman & Wakefield.
Nemo Chen has joined DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield in Shanghai as Senior Design Manager and Senior Project Manager. Chen comes to the Chinese subsidiary of Cushman & Wakefield from interior design and project management firm DB&B, where he had served for more than two years, after joining from Shanghai-based design firm JAXDA in 2013. The design specialist also has experience with BDM and MOD in China.
