It’s a holiday today in Hong Kong and in mainland China, but that doesn’t mean that people have stopped finding new roles as they pause to honor the big red country’s national day. Leading off this week’s people moves is a veteran auditor joining the board of a Singapore REIT manager, while a veteran China researcher leaves Beijing for cowboy country. Read on for all the details on who’s carrying a new name card this month.
Keppel REIT Management has appointed Alan Rupert Nisbet as an independent non-executive director of the manager of Singapore-listed Keppel REIT with effect from 1 October 2017, according to an announcement by the Singapore government-linked group. Nisbet, who formerly served as the leader of audit and assurance services for Deloitte Southeast Asia and Singapore before retiring in 2011, is also on the board of directors for Ascendas India Trust, Ascendas Property Fund Trustee, KrisEnergy, Halcyon Agri Corp and Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Ltd.
Steven McCord is now Senior Vice President for Research for the South Central region of the US with JLL. McCord takes on his new role in the international property consultancy’s Dallas/Fort Worth office after more than 11 years with JLL in China. Prior to heading back stateside, the Penn State product had served most recently as JLL’s Head of Retail Research for Asia and Head of Research for North China.
Jennie Cho has joined the crowd signing up with WeWork, where she now serves as a Real Estate Analyst with the co-working giant’s Singapore office. Cho joins the New York-based firm after two years with M&G Real Estate in Singapore, where the Cornell University graduate had served most recently as an Associate for Product and Investment with the London-based private equity real estate firm.
William Su is now on board with Hong Kong real estate heavyweight Wharf China Estates as Deputy Leasing Controller in the firm’s Tsim Sha Tsui office. Su signed up with the mainland development arm of the Hong Kong-listed firm after serving more than eight years with rival Hutchison Property Group as Marketing Manager for Office Leasing with the developer controlled by Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing.
Ellyn Jiang has taken up a new role as Director of Marketing with Joseph Wong Design Associates (JWDA), based in Shanghai. Jiang takes over the top mainland marketing spot with the San Diego, California-based architecture firm after more than four years with competitor Allied Architects International in Shanghai, where she served most recently as Principal of the firm’s marketing department. The East China Normal University graduate also has experience with developer Shui On Land.
Claret Huang has been promoted to Senior Investment Officer with developer Kaisa Group, based in Shenzhen. Huang took the step up with the Lazarus-like builder after serving less than a year with the company’s investment team. Huang joined Kaisa last year after serving as an analyst with Colliers International. The developer, which has seen the value of its shares nearly double this year, became internationally known in 2015 for being the first mainland developer to default on its bonds.
