While December isn’t always the most ideal time to start a new job, a few of Asia’s real estate professionals have taken up new roles prior to ringing in the new year. Sunac China has a new Executive Director to go with all of their recent purchases on the mainland, while Swire Properties and naked Hub are also among the firms to revamp their teams. Keep on reading for all of this week’s news.
Tian Qiang has been appointed as an Executive Director at Sunac China. He is currently serving as the Executive President of the firm in addition to holding the role of General Manager of Sunac’s Shanghai branch. The mainland developer went on a buying spree earlier this year acquiring 49 projects for $2.7 billion, and Sunac also purchased a 17 percent stake in Chongqing-based developer Jinke Property in September.
Sylvia Allan is trading in old school for new school after linking up with naked Hub as sales director. She spent the past two years with serviced office operator The Executive Centre working as the District Director prior to being hired by the co-working company. She will have a lot more space to move in the next few years after naked Hub announced that it closed a $33 million funding round led by Hong Kong’s Gaw Capital to help build 20 to 30 new outlets by 2017.
Helen Chen is now working for Swire Properties taking on the role of Portfolio Manager for the Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li retail complex in the western China city of Chengdu. The 100,000 square meter mall is home to a number of fashion and luxury brands and is part of Chengdu’s expanding retail scene. Chen worked at Parkview Green Beijing for four years prior to moving to Chengdu.
Gary Leung will be representing one of Asia’s most luxurious hotel brands after being named Realty Development Manager at Shangri-La International. Based in Hong Kong, he will oversee a 150,000 square metre commercial real estate portfolio that includes non-hotel investment properties. Leung was most recently acting as a Leasing Executive at Harbour City Estates and has also spent time at Swire Properties in Guangzhou.
Deng Shu has been named Associate Director at Savills in Shenzhen where she will serve as an investment and financing advisor. The Chinese University of Hong Kong alum was most recently working at Shenzhen-based King Wealth Fund Management and has also spent two years at Colliers International as well as three years at DTZ / Cushman & Wakefield in the southern Chinese metropolis.
