The Shape of Things to Come
Catch the excitement! RightSite.Asia is taking shape as we watch.
Attached is the latest design from our web designers. This is still not a finished product – we expect to go through several generations before we get to a final version, but the design has started to improve on the foundation that we selected in round one of the design process.
- Those funny notches on the search bar add noticeable branding
- There is more colour in what started as drab design
- The space given to the various elements of the page seems more in line with their importance
So it’s a happy day here at RightSite‘s Tongren Lu headquarters. For tomorrow we are working on improving this design version to focus more on the most important types of content and get into more detail about the design elements. We are also working on a Chinese version of the design. Some key elements for the next generation of the homepage layout design:
- Eliminate that goofy Community section search block in the lower left corner
- Make the Tradeshow Calendar smaller (this is not a core element for our users)
- Make the Forum and Features blocks bigger (these are core elements
- Start looking at alternative fonts, icon styles and line styles (the nitty gritty stuff)
- Choose our fonts for the Chinese version (not easy when you can’t read Chinese)
In the meantime, we are finalising the documentation for the User Admin module and getting ready to look at the first draft of the documentation for the Search module (that’s a pretty important module when you expect 80% of your users to be using the site to look for stuff).
On the happy progress front, we should get our company chops tomorrow, (Ah, the power of the chops in China), and our WFOE company application is now officially in the hands of the tax bureau. So we can expect to have the whole incorporation process to be finished in 15-20 working days and be able to issue legal invoices by mid-June. The completion of a corporate journey.
Other big projects on the horizon before we start operations:
- Establish an accounting system (Mike is financially-retarded, so this could get exciting)
- Formalise our marketing plan (marketing makes the company when you are an online business)
- Find that *&^%$#@! office
With that in mind, it’s time for this entrepreneur to get back to work. Hope you are enjoying your working day as much as I’m enjoying mine.
