Another week begins.
Another milestone reached.
It was a big day in Rightsite history today as we received a copy of our business license from the Commerce Office here in Shanghai. This means we have a company. We are real, and we are legal. Next milestones coming up:
Receive our chops — we need these [...]

There, I just added US$1,000,000 to the value of my company — we’re building a “community!” But in the case of RightSite, we actually are trying to get groups of people to work together (and any additional investor attention this may bring is purely coincidental).
Perhaps the biggest challenge that this company faces is not [...]

Today was another big day at RightSite as we hosted our first focus group meeting. Right here in Mike’s living room.
Since our little company still lacks understanding in some critical areas of our business, we are relying on input from friends through these focus groups to help fill in the knowledge gaps.

Getting ready to wrap up another web week here, and once again very little has gone according to plan. But that’s not necessarily bad.
Originally we were going to get our marketing underway this week, but that plan seems to have gotten derailed by some unexpected time consumption in other areas. So if you were [...]

Big items for the week:
Web development contract. After nearly two months of searching for web developers and asking for proposals it looks like we have finalised [...]
I know, I know – I’ve been lazy about updating this thing. But sometimes life as an entrepreneur is just too exciting for words.
Two big issues on the plate today:
Issue 1. That elusive WFOE license: Am meeting with the Commercial and Administrative Bureau this afternoon to help them understand the company business plan [...]
Returned to Shanghai more than a week ago now, so it’s time to get back to the blog as well — the world needs to know about the fun of starting up a new media company in Shanghai.
Already had one exciting development this week – unfortunately, it was thrilling only in the area of [...]
To continue on the club theme, I would like to let you all know of another business group that I’ve played a meaningful role in for many years. Just today I was re-elected to a seventh consecutive two-year term as chairman of the Slow Learners’ Club, Asian Chapter.
Well, ok, not really — but it [...]
